Derek D. Barker is Catellus Group’s Financial Analyst. Mr. Barker is responsible for underwriting prospective acquisitions and continuously supervising the profitability of existing portfolio properties and strategies. Mr. Barker’s other responsibilities include tenant lease negotiation and risk management. Prior to Catellus Group, he was employed as a Real Estate Acquisition Associate with TIAA-CREF where he became proficient in underwriting, negotiating, and closing core commercial real estate properties in the Southeastern United States ranging in size from $15MM to $1.2 Billion. He also holds a North Carolina Broker’s License.
Mr. Barker graduated in 2006 with a Masters in Business Administration Degree from the Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. While working to obtain his MBA, Derek was chosen as a Co-Chairman of the Real Estate Club and elected to study abroad at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Prior to Pepperdine, he graduated from Hampden Sydney College, where he double majored in Managerial Economics and Spanish. While at Hampden Sydney, Derek again studied abroad attending Escuela Internacional in Alcalá De Henares, Spain. His travels have provided the opportunity to learn both Spanish and Mandarin Chinese as a second and third language.
